Course Description:

This course provides a comprehensive introduction to biblical counseling, emphasizing the sufficiency of Scripture in addressing the spiritual, emotional, and relational needs of individuals. Students will explore how biblical truth, when applied with wisdom and compassion, offers hope and transformation in the lives of those struggling with sin, suffering, and everyday challenges. Topics include the theology of counseling, the role of the Holy Spirit, understanding the heart, and practical counseling techniques rooted in Scripture. Students will also compare and contrast biblical counseling with secular approaches, learning how to counsel in truth and love within the church and beyond.

Course Objectives:

  1. Develop a biblical philosophy of counseling grounded in the authority of Scripture.

  2. Identify and address heart-level issues using biblical principles.

  3. Gain practical skills for listening, discerning, and speaking the truth in love.

  4. Understand how to offer gospel-centered hope and guidance in a variety of counseling situations.
